I’m a highly collaborative, punchy writer in the media and entertainment marketing industry. I utilize my varied and extensive writing background and expert knowledge of the industry to develop creative solutions to meet business goals.
Currently, I’m the Editorial Coordinator at Viacom’s in-house agency, Viacom Catalyst, where knowing the business, culture and voice of Viacom and its brands is central to what we do. Day-to-day, our group of creatives collaborate with internal and external partners to find innovative ways to tell their stories and deliver their message with impact. My responsibilities include developing innovative concepts and crafting corresponding copy and scripts for projects like: the That’s What’s Up and Rave Review series, among other Viacom promotional videos.
Prior to being promoted to staff at Catalyst after just six months of full-time freelancing, I interned with the department for an entire year while I was pursuing my MFA in Writing and Producing for Television at Long Island University, Brooklyn, where I graduated with a 4.0 GPA and the highly coveted TV Writers Studio MVP Award.
The meat and potatoes of my curriculum was to develop and produce a television series with a cohort of other graduate students. Along with being a leading writer and producer of Fireside – a 1950s period piece set during the Red Scare in Hollywood – I was the First Assistant Director for the sizzle reel production of the series, where I became an expert in creating script breakdowns and call sheets, negotiating with vendors, managing a cast and crew and collaborating with Guild writers, producers and directors.
While balancing my coursework and internship at Catalyst, I was also given the opportunity to expand my writing chops at NBCUniversal where I was the Digital Editorial Intern for Bravo TV. When I wasn’t catching glimpses of some of the Real Housewives filming segments in the office, I crafted original, digital content like blog posts and photo galleries to drive fans to continue engaging with their favorite shows on BravoTV.com.
Prior to finally getting my mini-break for writing in entertainment, I spent a year as a Content Marketing Writer & Producer for a small tech startup named Insticator, which allowed me to inject the jargon-filled explainer videos, blog posts and marketing collateral with my smart and relatable writing.
Before taking the leap and moving to New York, I was a born and bred Marylander and graduated at the top of my class from the University of Maryland, College Park (Go Terps!) where I spent long nights working as the opinion editor at the school paper, writing blurbs as the editor-in-chief of the yearbook and realizing my love of British theater as Emmy Award-winning Michael Olmert’s directing and teaching assistant.
In my free time, you can usually find me fishing on my parent’s boat in Virginia, watching my favorite PBS period pieces or trying to find the perfect sour beer in the city.
